Everyone needs a place to belong and be themselves. Everyone needs people in their lives who believe in them. They need to feel safe to explore big questions, to discover who God is, who they are, and how they are meant to live. They need people who encourage them to become all God has made them to be. That’s what Refuge is all about. Refuge is a weekly ministry of LRC Student Ministry for 6-12th graders. Each week students come together for worship, teaching and small groups. We believe the small group environment is the ideal place for teens because it provides a group of students of the same age/gender led by an adult committed to loving that group. Refuge is a great environment for friends, too!
It all goes down every Wednesday night from 6:30-8:15pm. Doors open at 6pm. See you there!
When it comes to Christmas, there’s a lot to look forward to. Candy canes, Christmas trees, and presents. If you’re like most people you’ve probably spent some time thinking about presents you hope to receive and what to give. You may have even made a list. But while it’s fun to unwrap a gift you’ve been looking forward to getting have you ever opened a gift that took you entirely by surprise? A gift you didn’t even know you wanted until you received it? A gift that was totally unexpected?
Unexpected gifts have been at the heart of the Christmas story from the very beginning. For the next few weeks, we’ll talk about three times God surprised the world with a gift that was totally unexpected. And as we do, we might just discover how much those gifts mean to us today.
