1. How is Jesus’ death similar to other deaths? How is it different?

2. What does darkness represent? What are the contrasts between the darkness at the cross and the light at Jesus’ birth?

3. Why is the crucifixion critical to Christian faith? How do we stop being Christian if we deny the crucifixion?

4. Most dramatic or artistic portrayals of the crucifixion are bloody. Why do you think Luke left out most of the gory details? Why is the purpose of the cross more important than a detailed account of the specifics of His suffering?
